Zephi data - Just a little bit tech

 

 

Some explanatory points.

 

Zephi is basically driving the wwc interpreter 'cruise' settings.

 

Zephi does NOT require the wwc receiver script.

 

The 'server' (Python code in GAE) generates the wwc cruise parms (cruise wind speed... cruise wind shifts etc etc) with algorithms varying according to the mode / skill level.

Connection to the server only occurs when the Zephi dialog button is clicked, or on rez , reset etc.

 

Communication to the server is http requests, obviously (?)

Zephi (endeavours to) use http urls on a very temporary basis so as to minimise risk of stranding urls when boats crash etc.

Zephi does not use any emails.

 

You can use zephi to change the weather without having to stand/sit.   (You do have to lower / raise sails to reset the wwc interpreter script).

 

Zephi does NOT handle race wind as races require RD 'control' of the weather.  wwc windsetter etc seems a good way to do that.

 

Possible future enhancements (in NO particular order)

- Univeral wind - detect boat type (how? im looking at possible ideas)  and adjust accordingly

- An 'advanced' option under customisng opening up a less simple form including all wwc params

- Xtreme skill level (above custom) with major wind shifts from time to time.
